Our Approach to Every Watch
Every watch that comes to Ratri begins the same way: a careful look at its current condition, followed by a plain-language conversation about what we find and what the options are. We do not assume a watch needs the most extensive service available — we assess first and recommend accordingly.
Once work begins, the watch is handled only by the same small team throughout. We use component-specific lubricants, verify timing after reassembly, and document the work done. For watches undergoing restoration, that documentation is returned with the watch at collection.

Service & Assessment

A practical service that begins with careful assessment, followed by cleaning of accessible parts, light lubrication, and gentle regulation. Seals and crown are reviewed and a clear condition note is shared. A helpful way to understand a watch before deciding on further care.

Service Two
Movement Service

A complete service for mechanical movements that have become unreliable. Everything is cleaned and re-oiled, the balance and mainspring reviewed and renewed where needed, and timing regulated across positions. Seals are refreshed. Suited to well-loved daily watches.

Service Three
Restoration Programme

A respectful restoration for older or sentimental watches. We overhaul the movement, conserve the case and dial in keeping with their age, and make each cosmetic choice in conversation with you so nothing is altered without your wish. The work is documented from start to finish.

Shared Standards
Secure Storage
All watches held individually labelled throughout service. Workshop has controlled entry; watches are never left unattended.
Correct Lubricants
Each component type receives the lubricant appropriate to it — not a single oil applied across the movement.
No Surprises
Any change to the agreed scope is communicated before it happens. You are never presented with an unexpected bill.
Originality First
Cosmetic details are preserved by default. We discuss any changes with you before making them, regardless of how minor.
Seal Check
Where applicable, case sealing is tested and old seals replaced. Results are noted in the condition record.
Same Team Throughout
Your watch is not passed between third parties. The same small team handles the work from intake to collection.
