Things People Often Ask
How do I know which service my watch needs?
The Service & Assessment is a good starting point if you are unsure. We inspect the watch, share our findings in plain language, and you can then decide whether to proceed with a movement service or restoration — or simply take it back with the condition note.
Do you work on quartz watches as well?
Our focus is mechanical movements — manual wind and automatic. We do not currently service quartz or battery-powered calibres. If your watch is mechanical, we are the right place to start.
Will you polish the case or refinish the dial without asking?
No. We do not make cosmetic changes unless you request them. We believe wear and patina are part of a watch's character, and we respect that. If you do want polishing or refinishing, we can discuss what is appropriate and quote accordingly.
How long does the work take?
The Service & Assessment typically takes one to two weeks. A full Movement Service is around three weeks. A Restoration Programme, which involves more detailed work and ongoing conversation with you, usually takes six to nine weeks. We share a realistic estimate when the watch comes in and keep you informed of any changes.
What if parts need to be replaced?
We will let you know before replacing any part, including the cost involved. For older watches, sourcing the right components can take time, and we prefer to use period-appropriate or original parts where possible. Nothing is replaced without your knowledge.
How do the prices shown work?
The prices listed are the base rate for each service. If the watch requires additional parts or unexpected work is found during assessment, we will quote separately before proceeding. You are never committed to more than you have agreed to.
